Job Purpose and Impact

The Trade and Compliance Supervisor will lead a team that performs logistics and documentation, develops and plans export processes, customs documentation, shipping, and receiving of foreign merchandise to ensure it arrives at correct time. We seek a professional with technical knowledge of trade execution practices and procedures to issue import licenses and complete monetary transactions associated with the import at destination in a timely manner.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead and contribute to the development and cultivation of relationships with small accounts, customers, clients, suppliers and other business partners ;
  • Coordinate work with external authorities to verify and comply with all customs requirements ;
  • Provide guidance to ensure compliance with the home and foreign country government laws and customs regulations ;
  • Oversee preparation, review, approval and maintenance of files for export documents and logistics activities ;
  • Other duties as assigned ;
  • Responsible for personnel decisions related to hiring, performance and disciplinary actions for your direct reports. You will also spend time completing the same tasks as employees on your team ;
  • Address and settle any logistics and/or documentation challenges with the local supply chain stakeholders .



  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience ;
  • Minimum one year of directly related work experience ;
  • Minimum one year of supervisory experience ;
  • Fluent English and French speaker ;
  • Ability to travel in the different West African countries where we operate. At busy/challenging times this could be up to 50% of the successful candidate’s time. In more normal times it could be up to 25% of their time ;
  • Other minimum qualifications may apply .

  • Knowledge of Cotton exports in West African region .

  • Use compelling arguments to gain the support and commitment of others ;
  • Develop and deliver multimode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences ;
  • Know the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, focusing on continuous improvement ;
  • Ability to build relationships with multiple stakeholders within the business, i.e., commercial, risk, supply chain .

  • Ability to manage experienced professionals.
